Jena Rappolt-Noyes from Tiffin


We've heard from Jena last year and now she returns to show us some of the latest features in Tiffin DfX. It's a pretty amazing collection of filters which don't just emulate traditional Tiffin glass optical filters, but also with the numerous parameters you can actually do masking and looks creation.

As usual, we will raffle a copy of Tiffin DfX. Jena's presentation will focus on using the plug-in (or stand-alone) app with an eye toward creating great looks.

She is the owner of Summer Woman Productions, which provides videography, editing, and motion graphics services to a wide range of clients, which have included 1800Flowers, Fresh Direct, and Scripps Networks. Grading A Horror Film In DaVinci Resolve 9
The main event of the evening and a lesson not to be missed-- How To Grade A Horror Film using DaVinci Resolve 9.
As we have discussed, Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 9 with a revamped user interface and new features. Rather than just demo the features of the application, Patrick will guide us through an actual grade of an actual horror film. This tutorial will both instruct us in the use of the app but more importantly in how to use Resolve 9 to create looks specific to the piece we are grading. Don't miss it!

It's going to be a wild ride from the origins of copyright law to the modern day. This talk will examine the basic tension between the free expressions of ideas and the need to make a living while expressing. And it will conclude by covering some specifics about SOPA and Protect-IP, how they effect you and what you can do as an individual.

David e. Bell - A photographer, visual story teller, and engineer with over 30 years of experience. His experience includes the development of specialized HDR and panoramic techniques, visual effects workflow, and various production roles in film and television. Currently he is working with his son Shane of the scanning, restoration, and completion of an unfinished film shot on 16mm film. As always interested in that space where technical and artistic challenges overlap.

Audrey Ewell, Aaron Aites and others
Filmmakers/producers Audrey Ewell and Aaron Aites along representatives of the collaboration will present their work in progress. This collaborative film represents the work of over 60 filmmakers to document the OWS events this past fall. They are seeking funding via this Kickstarter page and Mopictive is proud to encourage their efforts.

We will have about 30 minutes of clips followed by a panel discussion with open Q&A from the audience.
